Student Telecom Information Guide

Telephones

Residence hall rooms have one analog direct dial extension per occupant. All extension numbers have a prefix of (518) 580 -XXXX. Individual telephones are not provided by the institution. The Skidmore Shop sells a selection of telephones and accessories

Collect and/or Third Party Calls

COLLECT CALLS ARE NOT TO BE ACCEPTED AT ANY EXTENSION.

PERSON TO PERSON, THIRD PARTY AND/OR TELEGRAM CALLS ARE NOT TO BE PLACED OR BILLED TO ANY EXTENSION.

Our system uses a billing process which links your authorization code with the long distance call. All long distance calls made using your authorization code are collected and processed at Telecommunications. Collect and third party calls accepted at any extension do not have an authorization code, therefore, when we receive bills from our vendors we then must go through each bill, list all extensions, and manually bill them to the students residing in those rooms. As this is a lengthy and time consuming process, an administrative charge of $5.00 is applied to each call.

Dialing Instructions

Inter campus dialing: Dail the four digit extension number.

Off campus dialing: Dial the off campus access code 2, and then the seven digit local number.

Calling Card dialing: Dial the off campus access code 2, then dial the 800 / 877 number to reach your long distance carrier, then follow your carriers instructions.
