What Students are able to work in the Athletic Training Room?

Students eligible for work-study, or who are genuinely interested in the field of athletic training and sports medicine are able to be employed in the Ahearn Athletic Training Room. Students who work here are often exercise science or biology majors, and are an important part of the sports medicine team.

Are student workers trained?

All student workers need to be CPR certified, and are given on the job training by the certified athletic trainers in the following areas:

ü Taping/Bracing

ü First Aid

ü Stretching

ü Basic Rehabilitation

ü Basic Modalities

Clinical sessions are held 1-2 times during a semester to update and reinforce the training in these areas, and to allow for continuing education in the realm of athletic training.

What are student worker responsibilities?

Student workers help with practice coverage, game coverage (along side a certified athletic trainer), and travel coverage when needed.
Helping the certified athletic trainers get athletes prepared for practice, and keeping the flow of the athletic training room moving.
Keeping the athletic training room clean and sanitary before and after practice times.
Administrative work (e.g. filing, copying, etc.)

How do I become a student worker in the Athletic Training Room?
